Project Clean Sweep

The Weather Station Relocation TeamLoma Vista Farm “Project Clean Sweep” got off to a grand start! Many thanks to each and every one of the 35 volunteers who put in a good day’s work!

Jenelle Alviz, Leo Club Leader, and her crew loaded up and hauled away a ton of debris with the help of George and his big trailer.

Mike Brigandi’s crew took down a fallen tree on the hillside between LVESA and the Farm.  Mike will be back to help out with more of the workdays thanks to Dennis putting in a good word!

Jim Germino owner of DreamScapes Irrigation walked the Farm with Morris and Kathi, planning the irrigation layout for the expanding ‘School Lunch Garden’.  He will be sourcing out materials for us, hoping to get most of it donated or at a steep discount.

Ravi Shankar, my fellow PB Steering Committee member, coordinated the Leo Club who moved all the onions into one of the planting area and dug them in to decompose or sprout (Mother Nature will tell us soon).

Dennis Klimisch was all over the place, loading debris and organizing the area by the chicken barn and orchard.

The raised beds were broken down in preparation for the garden expansion thanks to Morris, Kathi, Terry and two California Conservation Corp members, Cameron & Henry.

Barbara led a group in removing the structures in the Native American area.

Susan Slater from Recology, along with the Leos turned the cover crops into the soil on a few beds in the ‘School Lunch Garden’.

Leslie Luckey from Solano Board of Realtors brought sandwiches & chips, Carol from the Vallejo Garden Club brought pizza and then they put the potluck table together for the team at the end of the day.

Sarah enjoyed reminiscing with Armando about her time on the Farm as a student at Loma Vista Elementary way back.

An entire team was needed to move the Weather Station to its new location between the Native American & Plant area.

Are you interested in volunteering at the next scheduled ‘Project Clean Sweep Day & Potluck’ at Loma Vista Farm? We have a volunteer for childcare who will keep tots busy on their own projects.
