Fire at the Farm, February 16, 2013
A grass fire erupted at Loma Vista Farm on Friday, February 15, across from the office side of the Farm at about 2:45 p.m. Wind was blowing toward the Farm rather than in its usual westerly direction, and that caused an ember to ignite a bale of straw in the garden.
The Vallejo Fire Department responded quickly, making sure the fire was out and that it had not spread to other areas. Firemen are expected to check on the area over the next day or so as a precaution.
There have been several such small fires over the last few years, but this one was a bit bigger and came closer to causing serious damage.
