— Ways To Support The Farm That Don’t Cost Money —
Supporting a local charity doesn’t have to cost money. If there’s a cause you’ve always thought was meaningful, made a difference in the world, and gets you excited about the mission, there are plenty of ways to show your support without going into your bank account for cash.
Organizations like Loma Vista Farm have needs that can easily be met with time or even things you’ve purchased and may have never used. Take a look at some of these non-cash contributions our loyal supporters donate to help keep The Farm running:
- Volunteer for farm clean-up days
- Donating good quality used items to our Pasta Feed auctions
- Volunteer to help at events (i.e., Christmas tree sales, Harvest Festival, Spring Festival, etc)
- Buy from fundraising partners like See’s Candies, Chipotle, etc.
- Offer skills from a current or prior career (i.e., gardening, IT Support, Web Design, Marketing, Painting, etc)
- Legal or accounting assistance
- Comment on and like social media posts
- Share news from The Farm with family and friends
- Leave positive feedback when you hear news about us
- Talk to the school board and other public officials about the value of the farm
- Write letters to your congressman or senator encouraging them to support The Farm
- Stocks or Bonds
- Real Estate
- Software programs (i.e., QuickBooks, Microsoft Word)
- Donate those extra reams of office paper, lamps, curtains, blankets, markers, snack clips, soda, and other non-perishable items
- Extra gift cards that can be used for necessities (i.e., Amazon cards, gasoline cards, Starbucks, etc)
Supporting a local cause that is meaningful to you doesn’t always mean pulling cash out of the bank. In fact, it may be even more meaningful to show your support without spending any money. A bonus — talk to your accountant, because even though you donate time or items you’ve already purchased, you may still be able to deduct from your annual taxes.
