Loma Vista Farm is a community farm, and that means it doesn’t have full-time farmhands whose sole job is to tend to the animals, fix fences, build pens, plant crops, and keep away weeds and pests. It’s volunteers from the local community who come out and do the vital chores our working farm needs done. Many of our volunteers have skills like carpentry, gardening, animal care, plumbing, customer service, organization, and planning. Some of our volunteers have little more than a love of animals and The Farm. What makes every volunteer special to us is that they find ways to turn their unique skill set into something that helps the farm thrive.
We’re always looking for volunteers to help with farm duties. But, if you’ve never fed sheep, cleared a field for planting, hammered a nail, demoed a building, or patched bird netting — not to worry. There’s always an important project that needs your skills. And, if you’re interested in learning something new, you can learn by helping on a project that interest you.
Are you a group looking for a volunteer project, or maybe you’re an individual with some extra time? We could use your help. For information on how to volunteer, send an email to volunteer_flvf@lomavistafarm.org.
