In December of 2023, the Friends of Loma Vista Farm was one of the recipients of a sizeable grant from Valero. Valero’s Benefit for Children awards monies to non-profits whose primary goals align with making the lives of children better through a variety of ways. Loma Vista Farm- “Fertile Grounds for a Growing Mind” – supports Eco literacy – targeting elementary children through educational programs with animals and plants through hands-on learning.
The grant will allow the FLVF to start on the new Cow Barn, a major component of the on-going Master Plan. The Farm celebrates 50 years in 2024 and the need for updates and improved habitats are great. Orea and Keebler, our cows, and a favorite of the students, will have a state-of-the-art barn located in the lower pasture which allows for roaming, ease of care by our Caretakers, and a better teaching environment for the students.
