Project Clean Sweep Continues

We had a great day working on the Farm this past Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Forty-one volunteers came out to help, including visitors who had never been to the Farm and purchased $42 worth of plants.

Britt Hammon, Principal of Loma Vista Environmental Sciences Academy, led a team of Touro University students in digging the plot on the northeast corner of the garden, applying wood chips to the walkway and prepping the beds for the kids to transplant this week.

Kathi plumbed the stainless-steel sink and will replace the faucet assembly so that the produce can be rinsed off before heading into the kitchen or over to Jesse Bethel main kitchen.

Joshua Platt, of Crème de Crepes, shot video of the day’s happenings that Tom Bilbo and Chris Randles will be incorporating into a slide presentation during the pasta feed.

Dennis Klimisch, Jenelle Alviz & the Vallejo High Leo Clubdid a wonderful job cleaning up around the perimeter with the help of our friend Randy McVicker and Armando (friend of Susan Silva @ Recology)

We enjoyed a barbeque/potluck served up by our friends at Cal Maritime Community Outreach (JoEllen Myslik), Brenda Colafrancesco-Mooney from Valero, Lynese Edwards from Cooper Elementary, and Leslie Luckey from Solano Board of Realtors.

Our next workday is scheduled for April 19th 8am – 12p with BBQ to follow.

We’ll be dedicating the School Lunch Garden to our dear friend Andrea Laurette-Mrotz, lost in a tragic accident last Nov 3rd.  Please consider coming out to honor her contributions in building the School Lunch Garden.
